Procurement: The Keystone of Your Project (Part 1) |
|
Big topic, isn't it, colleagues? In this issue of “Bridge to the Future” we focus on the Request for Proposal (aka Request for Quote). This is the project’s keystone in as much as the accuracy and completeness of RFP enables the success of the project. In developing the RFP, it is recommended that subject matter experts incorporate results-based specifications (focusing on "what" is required) rather than providing specific instructions focusing on "how" things are to be done. What are the minimum requirements? Well, colleagues, more than minimum requirements there are five essentials to good performance: 1) Purpose of the RFP 2) Objectives of the Project 3) Process Outline and Timeframe 4) Submission Requirements (including feedback and preliminary concepts) 5) Evaluation and Selection Criteria. See you next time, colleagues, when we will discuss the importance of the role your corporate procurement policy has in the success of your project. |
